The Ironton Fighting Tigers couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost to St. Joseph Central at home by a decisive 52-38 margin on Saturday.
Emerson White and Lola Hankins certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. White scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds, while Hankins scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Peyton Deer, who scored 1 points.
St. Joseph Central found their leader in underclassman Ava Gallion, who scored 20 points along with 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Gallion has scored at least 25% of St. Joseph Central's points. Sophie Ransbottom was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Ironton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for St. Joseph Central, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Ironton will look to defend their home court on Monday against Chesapeake at 7:30 p.m. St. Joseph Central will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Sissonville at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th. Hopefully Sissonville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
