Baseball Recap: Temple Christian Has No Trouble Against Timberlake Christian

Temple Christian's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Timberlake Christian Tornadoes as Temple Christian made off with a 17-7 win. The Crusaders haven't had any issues with the Tornadoes recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Blake Cash made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Silas Walker was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Luke Gifford was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Temple Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Temple Christian's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-2. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Timberlake Christian, Faith Christian Academy, and Westover Christian Academy. As for Timberlake Christian, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Temple Christian will square off against rival Faith Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Timberlake Christian is set to take on their familiar foe Westover Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
