Baseball Recap: River Rouge Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

River Rouge had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on Rose Leadership Academy with a sharp 16-9 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-11 two weeks ago.

Nathaniel Stallworth and Noah Stallworth were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Stallworth struck out six batters over two innings while giving up just two earned runs but no hits. Meanwhile, Noah pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Stallworth got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Noah got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. River Rouge is undefeated when Noah posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Darius Thompson III was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for River Rouge: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Winston Brown, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

River Rouge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .846. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

River Rouge now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Rose Leadership Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. River Rouge will host Chandler Park Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rose Leadership Academy, they will be playing at home against University Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
