The Aubrey Rogers Patriots are taking a road trip to challenge the Estero Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Aubrey Rogers has three straight wins, Estero has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Saturday, Aubrey Rogers got the win against American Heritage by a conclusive 20-5. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won nine matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Delaney McCroskery was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Aubrey Rogers got a massive performance out of Alexis Alvarez, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Alvarez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sofia Ardezzone, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Aubrey Rogers always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They are 5-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Estero didn't have quite enough to beat Gulf Coast on Monday and fell 5-4.
Ava Weinbaum made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Lindsay Klatt was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Aubrey Rogers pushed their record up to 11-13 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Estero, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Aubrey Rogers has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Estero struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Aubrey Rogers suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Estero when the teams last played on April 1st. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
