The Chesaning Indians will be playing at home against the Durand Railroaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Chesaning sitting on ten straight victories and Durand on three.
Last Tuesday, Chesaning was able to grind out a solid win over Hill-McCloy, taking the game 58-46. Given Chesaning's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Hill-McCloy is ranked 522nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, even though Fowlerville scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, Durand still came out on top. Durand strolled past Fowlerville with points to spare, taking the game 76-58.
It was another big night for Markell Tate, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Tate is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Brayden Kelley, who scored 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Chesaning pushed their record up to 10-0 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Durand, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Chesaning didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Durand when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 61-56 win. Will Chesaning repeat their success, or does Durand have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
