The Shishmaref Northern Lights came tearing into Friday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Newhalen 71-38 on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Shishmaref has managed all season.
Shishmaref got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Louis Iyatunguk out in front who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Fred Olanna, who scored 15 points.
Shishmaref's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Newhalen, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.
Shishmaref and the will face off at 8:00 p.m. on February 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Newhalen does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
