George Washington has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Westminster Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. George Washington will be strutting in after a win while the Wolves will be coming in after a loss.
Winning is just a little bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 33% better than the opposition, a fact George Washington proved on Friday. They came out on top against Rangeview by a score of 47-38.
George Washington found their leader in underclassman Jeremiah Trimm, who scored 18 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. Trimm hasn't dropped below 17 points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tre Borne, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Westminster had to suffer through a rough 81-37 loss at the hands of the Raiders. While losing is never fun, Westminster can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Raiders are ranked 99th).
George Washington is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Westminster, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.
George Washington was able to grind out a solid victory over the Wolves when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 79-72. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Westminster's Armando Gomez, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for George Washington to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
