Williamsburg are taking a road trip to take on Blanchester at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Williamsburg has three straight wins, Blanchester has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Williamsburg is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past East Clinton 22-1 on Friday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Gracie Graves made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Kaityln Pollitt was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Kaylynn Anderkin also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Williamsburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .611. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2025.
Meanwhile, Blanchester came up short against Madison Plains on Friday and fell 12-7.
Bailie Bare made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Lansing, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Williamsburg's record is now 15-9. As for Blanchester, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-11.
Blanchester's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Williamsburg has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Blanchester, though, as they've been averaging only 3.2 strikeouts. Will Williamsburg keep running through batters, or will Blanchester buck the trend?
Williamsburg might still be hurting after the 8-2 loss they got from Blanchester in their previous matchup back in April. Can Williamsburg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
