Basketball Recap: River Mill Takes a Loss

River Mill extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-4. They lost 44-22 to the Cornerstone Charter Cardinals. On the bright side, the 22- point effort marked the Jaguars' highest-scoring matchup to date.

As for Cornerstone Charter, they now have a winning record of 2-1. The victory continues a trend for them in their matchups with River Mill: they've now won three in a row.

Maloree Walthaw went supernova, shooting 50% from the field en route to 17 points in addition to five boards and five steals. Walthaw is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Smith, who posted four points and five rebounds.

Coming up, River Mill will host Eno River Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cornerstone Charter, they will face off against Clover Garden School at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
