The Dixie Flyers will square off against the Desert Hills Thunder at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Dixie made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Snow Canyon, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Dixie put the hurt on Snow Canyon with a sharp 7-1 victory on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Flyers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Carson Hunt made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Dixie is undefeated when Hunt allowstwo or fewer hits, but 5-7 otherwise. Hunt was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.
Hunt wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Colton Hill, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Hill is becoming a predictor of Dixie's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-7 when he doesn't). Carter Turley was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Dixie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Desert Hills put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Pine View a 13-0 shutout. The match marked the Thunder's most dominant victory of the season so far.
Andrew Wiley tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Haigen Reed, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Conner Weese, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Desert Hills' win bumped their record up to 14-0. As for Dixie, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Dixie has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. However, it's not like Desert Hills struggles in that department as they've averaged .528. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dixie took their victory against Desert Hills when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 17-6. Does Dixie have another victory up their sleeve, or will Desert Hills turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
