Shaw is 0-5 against Westover since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Shaw Raiders will be playing at home against the Westover Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Westover took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Shaw, who comes in off a win.
Shaw put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season last Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Hardaway 30-0 at home. The victory was just what Shaw needed coming off of a 49-7 loss in their prior matchup.
Nicholas Bates was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 194 yards and four touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Ken Thornton, who picked up 75 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 55-12, which was the final score in Westover's tilt against Cairo on Friday. Westover was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-6.
Shaw's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Westover, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Shaw was dealt a bruising 31-0 defeat at the hands of Westover when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Will Shaw have more luck at home instead of on the road?
