The Churchill Bulldogs were the 47-43 winner over the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Churchill fell to Bethesda-Chevy Chase 54-48. While losing is never fun, Churchill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while Bethesda-Chevy Chase is ranked 28th).
It was another big night for Frances Doyle, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds for Bethesda-Chevy Chase. Doyle set a new season high mark in steals with five. Anna Tercyak was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with three steals.
Churchill has fallen quite a ways from their 21-4 record last season and are now at 2-5. As for Bethesda-Chevy Chase, their victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1.
Churchill will challenge Walter Johnson at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Bethesda-Chevy Chase, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Einstein at 7:15 p.m. Einstein has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 196 points over their last three matches.
