Christiansburg has gone 8-2 against Salem recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Blue Demons will host the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Christiansburg has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Christiansburg managed to slip by Cave Spring the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Blue Demons lost 11-1 to the Knights on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Blue Demons couldn't push the score so high this time.
Tyleigh Dillard made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.
Meanwhile, Salem posted their closest win since April 12, 2024 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Hidden Valley. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Cora Robinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Cora Sparger was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Salem pushed their record up to 15-4-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Christiansburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
Both Christiansburg and Salem just can't seem to miss. The Blue Demons have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Salem struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Christiansburg might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from Salem in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Blue Demons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
