The Berean Academy Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They took a 40-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tri-City Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Berean Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while Tri-City Christian Academy is ranked 29th).
Tri-City Christian Academy was led to victory by Fulvio Dos Santos and Chris Carnes. Dos Santos scored 13 points along with two steals, while Carnes scored nine points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Henry, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Berean Academy's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.0 points per game. As for Tri-City Christian Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-1.
Berean Academy will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Arizona Cultural Academy at 6:30 p.m. As for Tri-City Christian Academy, they and Skyline - Gila River will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Skyline - Gila River's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 14 games.
