New Bern and D.H. Conley are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2015, but not for long. The Bears are taking a road trip to challenge the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. New Bern will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, New Bern turned things around against White Oak on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 46-20 margin over the Vikings. The game marked the Bears' most dominant victory of the season.

New Bern's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Terrance McCormick led the charge by throwing for 189 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes, while also rushing for 67 yards and one score. McCormick's passing game has become a key predictor of the Bears' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise. Another rusher making a difference was Karvin Magwood, who rushed for 114 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: New Bern was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 205 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, D.H. Conley made easy work of South Central on Friday and carried off a 39-14 win. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won seven in a row.
New Bern better keep an eye on Elijah Taft. He was instrumental in D.H. Conley's win, rushing for 166 yards and four touchdowns. Those 166 rushing yards gave Taft a new career-high.
D.H. Conley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Dallas Carmon and Nick Sawyer.
D.H. Conley's record now sits at 5-2. As for New Bern, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. New Bern has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 171.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like D.H. Conley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 205.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
New Bern was able to grind out a solid win over D.H. Conley when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 28-15. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
