Lake Norman put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Statesville Greyhounds 73-20. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 28 points or more this season.
Lake Norman's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kelsey Rhyne, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 15 points in addition to seven steals and six assists. Rhyne is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Shehan, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 13 points.
Rhyne wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Lake Norman was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Statesville only racked up six assists.
Lake Norman pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Statesville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Lake Norman will take on Carrollton in a holiday battle at at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Statesville, they will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against North Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on December 20th. North Lincoln knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Statesville likes a good challenge.
