Even though the Liberty Red Devils scored an imposing 64 points on Tuesday, the Blacksburg Wildcats still came out on top. Everything went Blacksburg's way against Liberty as Blacksburg made off with a 86-64 win. With Blacksburg ahead 47-21 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Jacob Gilfillan was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Saad Lavender, who scored 11 points.
Liberty lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Logan Smith, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Smith has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. Dawson Owen was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with three steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Blacksburg and bumps their season record up to 5-15. As for Liberty, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season.
Blacksburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Liberty also has no future games currently scheduled.
