Shawnee is 0-2 against Piedmont since September of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Shawnee Wolves will look to defend their home field against the Piedmont Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 60-31, which was the final score in Shawnee's tilt against Eisenhower on Thursday. Shawnee was down 47-24 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Dace Shaw, who rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Zyron Campbell, who rushed for 22 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Piedmont's game two weeks ago was all tied up 13-13 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They took down Eisenhower 43-25.
Shawnee's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-5. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Eisenhower, Bishop McGuinness, and Blanchard. Piedmont has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first seven contests, giving them a 6-1 record.
Shawnee took a serious blow against Piedmont in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 44-7. Can Shawnee avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
