Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to post seven more assists than your opponent, a fact the Arcata Tigers proved on Thursday. They came out on top against Eureka by a score of 44-33. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Arcata also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
It was another big night for Dayquan Dunn, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 20 rebounds. Those 20 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Luke Lemke, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Eureka still got an impressive performance from Michael Jewell, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Goodman, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
The win got Arcata back to even at 9-9. As for Eureka, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7.
Arcata will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Rancho Cotate at 4:30 p.m. on January 13th. As for Eureka, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against McKinleyville at 7:30 p.m.
