The Wiggins Tigers lost against the Briggsdale Falcons back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Wiggins fell 41-31 to Briggsdale. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wiggins has scored all season.
Wiggins' loss came despite strong showings from Taelynn Epple and Kennedy Kerr. Epple scored six points along with 11 rebounds, while Kerr scored ten points along with two steals.
Briggsdale's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jenna Krise, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Krise has scored at least a third of Briggsdale's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayl Klem, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Wiggins and nudges their season record down to 4-6. As for Briggsdale, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Wiggins won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Heritage Christian at 1:00 p.m. on January 20th. Heritage Christian's defense has only allowed 29 points per game this season, so Wiggins' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Briggsdale, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Otis at 5:30 p.m. Otis will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 215th, while Briggsdale is ranked 36th).
