The Notre Dame Academy Gators had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.8 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They snuck past Moore Catholic with a 53-47 victory. This was payback for Notre Dame Academy, who suffered a 50-41 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Sabrina Kraker was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. Kraker is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Kasegrande, who scored eight points.
Moore Catholic's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Brianna Caliri, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds, and Veronica Barbato who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barbato has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Emma Costanzo, who scored six points along with three steals.
Notre Dame Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. As for Moore Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.
Notre Dame Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Kennedy Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kennedy Catholic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 147th, while Notre Dame Academy is ranked 35th). As for Moore Catholic, they will face off against South Bronx Prep at 2:30 p.m. on Monday.
