Basketball Recap: Kennedy Myers' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Statesboro over Telfair County

Statesboro was the 71-24 winner over Telfair County when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Statesboro Blue Devils lost to the Telfair County Trojans at home by a 52-38 margin on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while the Trojans are ranked 65th).

Statesboro's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kennedy Myers, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance gave Myers a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lindsay Johnson, who posted six points and eight rebounds.

Telfair County can attribute much of their success to Aamoni Posley, who earned eight points along with 12 boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty'Kristiany Jones, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Statesboro now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Telfair County, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Statesboro didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-37 loss against Vidalia on the 27th. As for Telfair County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 44-28 defeat against Wayne County on the 27th.
