The Delta Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Garrett Railroaders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Delta fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They had just enough and edged Yorktown out 24-21.
Kaiden Bond was on fire: he rushed for 174 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per carry. Bond was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 56 yards.
Another reason for the win was Delta's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 3.5 sacks. Leading the way was Braxton Russell and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Garrett strolled past Heritage with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 20-6. Winning may never get old, but Garrett sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Garrett's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Camren Ruble, who rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown. Ruble hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. Calder Hefty was another key contributor, rushing for 22 yards and a touchdown.
Delta's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Garrett, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Friday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Delta has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 170.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Garrett struggles in that department as they've been averaging 160.6 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
