The Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins will take on the Edisto Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Orangeburg-Wilkinson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson got their first taste of in-conference action on Tuesday and they started things off strong. They blew past North Charleston 17-1. That looming 17-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bruins yet this season.
Leonides Evans was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Orangeburg-Wilkinson let Xavier Glover and Jordan Hill run wild. Glover scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Hill went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave Glover a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Jamison, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .708. They are 4-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Edisto was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 15-9 to Barnwell.
Ryder Bingham was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Michael Myers, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Edisto, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Orangeburg-Wilkinson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Edisto struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson came up short against Edisto in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 8-5. Will the Bruins have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
