There's no place like home for the Ferndale Wildcats, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Hayfork 65-31 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Ferndale has posted yet this season.
Ferndale found their leader in underclassman Prescott Langer, who scored 18 points. Langer continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Thomas Fergison, who scored ten points.
When it comes to explaining why Hayfork lost, one person who can't be blamed is Daniel Kasper. Despite the final result, he scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Kasper grabbed two or more steals.
Ferndale's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Hayfork, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ferndale will take on South Fork at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. South Fork presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ferndale in California (South Fork is ranked 469th, while Ferndale is ranked 1114th). Hayfork won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Butte Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th.
