The Cavaliers led Black Hills in scoring this week after putting up 60 points on the Golddiggers.
Hot Springs's dynamic duo of Justin Harkless and Jake Oberpriller proved tough for Custer to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Harkless threw for 135 yards and one touchdown and Oberpriller had 61 yards receiving. Eriq Swiftwater helped Hot Springs' passing attack out by catching two balls for 37 yards.
Kenneth Myers made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Wildcats fell to the Bison. The 5-foot-11 junior forced one fumble and racked up one sack.
Myers was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 19 carries, he ran for 57 yards as Custer topped Custer. Jared Thomsen also contributed to the rushing game with 29 yards on the ground.
Russ Bailey's team's Chase Glazier and Thomsen have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Glazier has thrown for 951 yards this season, while Thomsen, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 11 catches for 281 yards. Ben Kramer's team's Oberpriller leads the league in rushing yards with 642.
The top two teams in Black Hills will face off this week when first place Hot Springs takes on second place More. Last week, the Bison defeated the Wildcats, while More beat Lead-Deadwood.
Douglas made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,779 from 12,273. The improvement came about via a 48-13 victory over Sturgis Brown last week.
