Sadly, the Effie Kokrine Charter Warriors are still looking for their first win of the season after four contests. They were the victim of a rough 53-33 loss at the hands of Minto on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Effie Kokrine Charter of the 41-33 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2017.
Minto's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jena Smith led the charge by scoring 17 points. Another player making a difference was Ruth Fox, who scored ten points.
Effie Kokrine Charter dropped their record down to 0-4 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.6 points per game. As for Minto, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Effie Kokrine Charter will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Ben Eielson at 5:00 p.m. Ben Eielson comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last seven games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. Minto does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
