The Mountain View Spartans''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 50-17 loss at the hands of Sacred Heart Prep. Mountain View was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-3.
Sacred Heart Prep was led to victory by Ravu Savali and Jack Stevens. Savali rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, while Stevens rushed for 94 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. Savali really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run. Another player making a difference was Connor Lis, who rushed for 57 yards and a touchdown.
Mountain View's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Sacred Heart Prep, Los Gatos, and Wilcox. As for Sacred Heart Prep, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain View will challenge Los Altos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Los Altos is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. As for Sacred Heart Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against Menlo School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Menlo School is ranked 195th, while Sacred Heart Prep is ranked 194th).
