While losing is never fun, Poplar Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 542nd, while Chipley is ranked 178th).
Meanwhile, Marianna lost to Holmes County on the road by a decisive 49-35 margin on Friday. Marianna has struggled against Holmes County recently, as their contest on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Poplar Springs bumped their record down to 1-13 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.0 points per game. As for Marianna, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.
