Cave Spring is 8-2 against Christiansburg since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Knights will square off against the Blue Demons at 6:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While Cave Spring's victory against William Byrd wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Knights had just enough and edged out the Terriers 5-4.
Caitlyn Karnes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Christiansburg made sure to put some runs up on the board against Abingdon on Thursday. The Blue Demons had just enough and edged out the Falcons 16-15.
Addison Reasor was a standout: she fired off two home runs, four runs, and one double while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Reagan Smith, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
Christiansburg has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Cave Spring, their record is now 4-2.
Christiansburg's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cave Spring has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Christiansburg, though, as they've been averaging 9 hits. Given Cave Spring's sizable advantage in that area, the Blue Demons will need to find a way to close that gap.
Cave Spring took their victory against Christiansburg when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-4 score. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Demons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
