Chaparral is 0-5 against Fountain-Fort Carson since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Chaparral Wolverines will head out on the road to face off against the Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Chaparral comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Chaparral fell victim to Regis Jesuit's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Raiders on the road and fell 51-0. While losing is never fun, Chaparral can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Regis Jesuit is ranked 11th).
Meanwhile, Fountain-Fort Carson was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 21-17 to Douglas County.
Mathias Price put forth a good effort for the losing side as he gained 195 total yards.
Chaparral's loss was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-3 Pine Creek and 6-2 Legend (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.9% over those games). As for Fountain-Fort Carson, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
Chaparral took a serious blow against Fountain-Fort Carson when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 46-9. Can Chaparral avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
