Basketball Recap: Benjamin Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Drew Buchanan and Logan Buchanan

Benjamin was the 69-55 winner over Inlet Grove when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Benjamin Buccaneers fell 65-57 to the Inlet Grove Hurricanes on Monday. While the Buccaneers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Hurricanes 14-9 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Benjamin had strong showings from Logan Buchanan, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards, and Drew Buchanan, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. The contest was Logan's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephen Cecil, who posted ten points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Inlet Grove to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jorden Black, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 21 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Black a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Ja?Marcus Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards.

Benjamin is on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Inlet Grove, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Benjamin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 57-51 defeat against Cardinal Newman on the 10th. As for Inlet Grove, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 41-34 loss against Spanish River on the 11th.
