Newcomb is 2-8 against Tohatchi since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Newcomb Skyhawks will play host again and welcome the Tohatchi Cougars, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Newcomb beat Wingate 49-43.
Newcomb's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mikal Ashley, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Ashley hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Darium Peshlakai was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
In what's become a running theme this season, Tohatchi gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Thoreau 89-59 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Tohatchi has posted since December 14, 2023.
Newcomb is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Tohatchi, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-5.
