The Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.3 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Thursday. They came out on top against Riverside by a score of  85-73. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
 Gatlinburg-Pittman's win  was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from   Nya Burns, who  scored 20 points along with six  assists and four  steals. Burns continues to roll, besting  her previous point total in each of the last three games she's  played. Another player making a difference was  Maddy Newman, who  scored 25 points along with five  rebounds.
 Gatlinburg-Pittman is  on a roll lately: they've  won ten of their last 11 contests,  which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season. As for Riverside, their loss  ended a three-game streak of away wins  and  brought them to 7-5.
 Gatlinburg-Pittman will head out on the road to face off against Oneida at 6:00  p.m.  on January 5, 2024. Riverside won't have much time to rest: their next  game is against Rockcastle County at 10:00  a.m.  on December 29th. Rockcastle County knows how to get  points on the board -- the  team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 matches -- so hopefully Riverside likes a good challenge.
