Make it 13 blowout wins for the East Duplin Panthers this season. They were the clear victor by a 53-29 margin over Kinston. Given East Duplin's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Vikings are ranked 232nd), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
East Duplin found their leader in underclassman Kinsey Cave, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Cave is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sallie Hatcher, who scored ten points along with two steals.
East Duplin pushed their record up to 16-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Kinston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.
East Duplin won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Titans at 5:15 p.m. on January 31st. As for Kinston, they will head out on the road to challenge the Stallions at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Southwest Onslow is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
