Eastern is 1-9 against St. Xavier since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Eastern has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Christian Educational Consortium hit Eastern with a nine-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles came up short against the Cougars, falling 13-3. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Eastern saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was EJ Eggen, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Hudson Overstreet also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, St. Xavier didn't have quite enough to beat Noblesville on Monday and fell 5-4. The loss was the Tigers' first of the season.
St. Xavier also got a good showing from Ryan Holmes, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Brody Gaddie made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Coomer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Eastern has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like St. Xavier struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
