The Tucker Tigers were the 60-43 winner over the M.L. King Lions when they last played one another on January 5th, but their luck changed this time around. Tucker was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 48-47 to M.L. King.
Tucker's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaymee Carter, who scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Ka'nya Hairston, who scored 13 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead M.L. King to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aubriana Kirkland, who scored 18 points along with six steals and three blocks. Kirkland has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alika Daugherty, who scored 13 points along with eight steals.
Tucker's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for M.L. King, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tucker will stay at home for another game and welcome Arabia Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Arabia Mountain is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road. As for M.L. King, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lithonia at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Lithonia is ranked 477th, while M.L. King is ranked 460th).
