Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the St. Andrew's Lions, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They suffered a rough 49-27 loss at the hands of Tiftarea Academy on Friday. St. Andrew's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it four in a row.
St. Andrew's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Charles Strain, who rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Richaard Williams, who rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown.
It was another big night for John Robert Walker, who rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also threw for 175 yards and four touchdowns on only seven passes. John Jackson also helped out with an impressive 146 receiving yards.
St. Andrew's has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Tiftarea Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-7-1.
