The North Olmsted Eagles will head out to square off against the Normandy Invaders at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. North Olmsted has given up an average of 15 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
North Olmsted is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 16 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Buckeye on Thursday. They came up short against the Bucks, falling 16-0. The Eagles have struggled against the Bucks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Normandy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bay, sneaking past 9-7.
Ava Ramirez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over eight innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Aubrey Kuhn was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Maddie Kirk, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Normandy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .436. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bay only posted a batting average of .242.
North Olmsted's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Normandy, their record now sits at 4-5.
North Olmsted couldn't quite get it done against Normandy in their previous meeting back in April as they fell 11-6. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
