Africentric Early College came tearing into Friday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 58-57 win over the Walnut Ridge Scots. This was payback for the Nubians, who suffered a 64-45 loss the last time these two teams met.

Several Scots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marquis Lucas, who went 6 of 12 en route to 15 points and three steals. Lucas has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jahleel Wakeel, who posted eight points and five assists.

Africentric Early College pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Walnut Ridge, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-2.

Africentric Early College didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-42 win against Thomas Worthington on the 21st. As for Walnut Ridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 68-62 loss against Marysville on the 21st.
