Highland and Independence are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Scots will host the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Independence will be up against a hot Highland team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Scots put the hurt on Bakersfield Christian with a sharp 21-6 victory on Friday.

Janaye Phillips made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jocelyn Dotson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madalyn Gonzalez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Highland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 12-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Independence made easy work of Ridgeview on Friday and carried off a 19-4 win.
Maylea Lutu was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Michaela Ames, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Highland's victory bumped their record up to 15-6-1. As for Independence, their win bumped their record up to 9-12-1.
Highland's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's matchup. The Scots have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Independence, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Highland continue to outrun the ball?
