Chiles is 0-10 against Rickards since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Chiles Timberwolves will stay at home for another game and welcome the Rickards Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Chiles' game was all tied up 24-24 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They secured a 48-43 W over FAMU DRS. The victory was just what Chiles needed coming off of a 68-33 defeat in their prior game.
Chiles' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Faith Durden, who scored 17 points along with three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Durden has scored at least a third of Chiles' points. Macey Hartman was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Rickards had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.2 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They took down Columbia 53-35. Given Rickards' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Columbia is ranked 146th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rickards' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amirahs Hayes, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hayes scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Journee Belcher, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Chiles has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-9 record this season. As for Rickards, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4.
Things could have been worse for Chiles, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-37 loss to Rickards when the teams last played back in November of 2022.
