West Orange is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They strolled past Plant City with points to spare, taking the game 45-30.
West Orange's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Ammons, who rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew 'AJ' Chung, who rushed for 40 yards and one TD.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something West Orange proved: they limited Plant City to a paltry 3.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Devonte Anderson for the heroic effort on defense: he. West Orange's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.7.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Venice against Ridge Community on Friday as the team secured a 49-12 win. Considering the Indians have won four matchups by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Venice's win came from a few key players West Orange will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Darryon Jones, who threw for 214 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.2% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Dorian 'Macho' Jones handled things on the ground, rushing for 104 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Venice didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Layne Kisovic and Irell Dale. Kisovic is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last five games he's played. Venice got some further help from Brock Hupp: he picked up a sack, made nine total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended one pass.
West Orange's record is now 10-1. As for Venice, their record now sits at 7-3.
West Orange took a serious blow against Venice in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 55-26.
