The Booker Tornadoes extended their postseason success on Friday against the Bishop Verot Vikings. They managed a 38-32 win over the Vikings. Booker's win was all the more impressive since Bishop Verot was averaging only 14.23 points allowed on the season.
Among those leading the charge was Josiah Booker, who rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Booker, racking up 12 points in total. All those points came courtesy of Oswaldo Mendoza-Munoz: he added nine points with three field goals, and another three kicking extra points.
Despite the loss, Bishop Verot had strong showings from Deshon Jenkins jr, who rushed for 168 yards while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and Carter Smith, who rushed for 117 yards and three touchdowns.
Booker has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Bishop Verot, their loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-2.
Booker will head out on the road to face off against Cocoa at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Cocoa sitting on ten straight victories and Booker on four. Bishop Verot does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
