Versailles is a perfect 3-0 against Dayton Christian since September of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Tigers will be taking part in a tournament against the WARRIORS at 5:30 p.m. Versailles will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
Versailles saw some tournament action on Saturday. They put the hurt on Preble Shawnee with a sharp 3-0 win.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Versailles to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lauren Prenger, who had five aces and three digs. That's the most aces Prenger has posted since back in September. Allie Wietholter also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
They weren't the only good servers: Versailles was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 11 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Dayton Christian lost 3-0 to Eaton two weeks ago.
While Dayton Christian had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-18, 25-22.
Versailles will have to contain Grace Donahue as she made an impact in Dayton Christian's last game. She had 11 assists and nine digs.
Versailles' victory bumped their record up to 18-5. As for Dayton Christian, their defeat ended a four-match streak of away wins and brought them to 17-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's match: Versailles has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.4 aces per game. However, it's not like Dayton Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Versailles was able to grind out a solid win over Dayton Christian in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 3-1. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the WARRIORS have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
