Western Missouri recap October 1, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in Western Missouri this week, Midway beat Drexel 40-0. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Archie fell to Adrian 55-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Driston Self was a passing and rushing force as Osceola defeated Rich Hill. He completed 5 passes for 111 yards and also ran for 109 yards. Self's key target this week was Dallas Self, who caught 3 passes for 88 yards.
Trenton Tallman and Austin Williams gave the Blackhawks a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Tallman threw for 70 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Williams ran for 158 yards. Gage Steen also contributed to the rushing game with 105 yards on the ground.
The Tigers' Cole Heckadon and Jacob Thompson have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Heckadon has thrown for 335 yards this season, while Thompson, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 16 catches for 289 yards. The Indians' Self leads the league in rushing yards with 738.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Osceola takes on the Whirlwinds. Paul Carney's team is currently in second, while Archie is in sixth.
Midway made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,391 from 5,160. The advance stemmed from a 40-0 victory over the Bobcats last week.
