It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Pershing County Mustangs had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 20-6 victory over Lincoln County. Winning may never get old, but Pershing County sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Lincoln County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Kristian Johnson, who picked up 104 receiving yards, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Kalen Bart also helped out as he racked up 110 receiving yards.
Pershing County pushed their record up to 9-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 North Tahoe and 1-6 Silver Stage (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.8% over those games). As for Lincoln County, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Pershing County will head out on the road to face off against Lake Mead Academy at 9:00 a.m. on November 21st. Lake Mead Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 443 points over their last eight matchups. Lincoln County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
