The Jonesboro Cardinals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Westlake, falling 64-36. While losing is never fun, Jonesboro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Westlake is ranked 58th).
Jonesboro's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Janiya Hullett, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Christian Wright who scored 12 points. Wright continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Jonesboro has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Westlake, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.
Jonesboro will head out on the road to challenge Woodward Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Woodward Academy will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. Westlake will take on East Coweta at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully East Coweta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 last Saturday.
