After having lost a blowout in their previous game against East Rowan, the Concord Spiders were happy to have found some success on Friday. They really took it to Carson for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-29 win at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Concord has managed all season.
Kaylin Williams had an outrageously good game as she dropped a double-double on 30 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Myajah Nix, who scored eight points along with eight steals and seven assists.
Carson's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Rylee Hedrick, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, and Laila Furr who scored seven points along with six rebounds and five steals. Hedrick is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.
Carson struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Concord posted 12 assists.
Concord's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Carson, they bumped their record down to 1-14 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Concord will square off against Northwest Cabarrus at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest Cabarrus presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Concord in North Carolina (Northwest Cabarrus is ranked 121st, while Concord is ranked 353rd). As for Carson, they will head out on the road to take on Robinson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
