MAHWAH, N.J. -
Mahwah (N.J.) kept up a steady attack all game long to beat Fort Lee (N.J.), 41-6, on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Zach Herrmann to
Erik Wong in the first quarter, the Thunderbirds led 21-6 at the half.
Mahwah expanded its lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. MHS scored two times in the third, including once on a Herrmann touchdown run.
With the win the Thunderbirds extended their winning streak to six games. Mahwah defeated the Scarlets 34-31 last week.
Alex Levy played well for the Bridgemen. The senior tight end caught one touchdown. He has now scored one touchdowns on the season.
MHS's most effective player was Herrmann. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for two touchdowns.
Fort Lee's lone touchdown came on a 13-yard pass from Mario Jackovino to Levy in the first quarter.
The Thunderbirds entered the contest giving up 21.7 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding FL well below its season average of 17.6 points scored per game.
A 55-20 Mahwah victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
In a non-conference game next week Mahwah (7-1) takes on Dumont, and Fort Lee (2-6) will go up against River Dell in a Big North - Patriot game.
